The ZZZ Foundation was established in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, in response to the emotional and social impact the crisis had on children and families.
What began as a small initiative to provide psycho-social support for schoolchildren who had lost parents to COVID-19 quickly revealed a deeper need. Communities were facing challenges far beyond grief — from HIV & AIDS, teenage pregnancy, and gender-based violence, to substance abuse and a lack of access to basic support services.
The ZZZ Foundation exists to bridge that gap. Our mission has since expanded to support not just the youth, but also parents and grandparents who now shoulder the responsibility of raising the next generation.
Guided by the values of Ubuntu — the belief that we are all connected — our work is rooted in empathy, empowerment, and the unwavering belief in a better future.
Though we operate without formal funding, our progress is made possible by sponsors and supporters who share our vision of uplifting the communities of Khumbula, Kabokweni, and beyond.
We envision a generation in which education and knowledge positively contribute to every person's ability to reach their full potential empowering individuals and communities through development and partnership initiatives. Our vision is to see young people and key populations thrive in environments where opportunity, access to resources, and support systems enable them to lead meaningful lives.
To equip young people and key populations with the tools to overcome poverty, combat chronic illness, and foster economic independence. Our focus areas include: Reaching the unreached in remote communities Collaborating with like-minded organizations Providing follow-up support on psycho-social matters Delivering quality, confidential services in compliance with the POPI Act
Provide early leadership and emotional intelligence training. Partner with organizations supporting youth and key populations. Strengthen families through counselling and dialogues. Raise awareness on issues like substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and GBV. Promote skills development for economic upliftment. Build networks to support our programs locally and internationally.
ZZZ Foundation operates with a dual structure: Governance Structure: Ensures accountability and vision alignment Administrative Structure: Handles day-to-day operations Skilled and community-representative personnel are recruited across both areas. Part-time professionals (e.g. photographers, sound engineers) are hired as needed for specific projects.
